Portrait by Kevin Dotolo
Another talented sponsor...Beth Dotolo is one of the freshest faces in Dallas' remarkable design scene. It's hard to believe that Nest Interior Design was founded only a year ago, because Beth's work is being seen everywhere (I've covered her frequently, including here and here). Beth's married to photographer Kevin Dotolo, who beautifully documents all of her work.
I usually don't like before and after shots, but this is a great example of Beth's penchant for taking a drab vintage piece and making it sophisticated and cool at the same time.

Room by Nest Interior Design
Nest Interior Design emerged out of the young, fun, and so-stylish store Nest in the University Park neighborhood of Dallas. If you live in the area and haven't been, go! Their website's great, so check them out online, too. Love the chiaroscuro effect of this room, with its dark and light contrasts.

Here's another vintage chair that Beth's done over in a gray and white graphic pattern. The graphic wallpaper in shades of gray is unexpected, and a cool twist on grisaille.

Love the tailored look of Nest owner Heather Weise-Alexander's bedroom, with its play on a disco ball for a chandelier. In the back (and below) you can see Heather's study, which just might be one of the most beautiful offices I've ever seen. It's tailored enough for a man, and the lines are delicate enough for a woman.

Look at that exotic wood on the desk! Love, too that the marble fireplace becomes the art in the room, and how she used an old school desk chair, but updated it in high gloss. One of my favorite new color combinations are dark gray walls with rich woods.

See that squiggly thing pressed between glass? It's a tiny snake skeleton! Beth loves to throw in something slightly quirky, even belle-laid in her rooms.

This is Heather's living room, and another great example of how you could cut one of Beth Dotolo's rooms down the middle and they'd stay perfectly balanced. The surrealist painting of a rumpled bed by Italian artist Michele Tarrico has always been one of my favorites.
Made by Julene cut paper sculpture
Beth Dotolo: I've been lusting after Made by Julene's cut paper art. The artistry, creativity, and worksmanship that goes into her pieces blows me away. I'm planning on getting a piece commissioned for my home and framing it in a shadowbox frame. I'm smitten!
BD: I love the small screen interior style of Gosspi Girl. The set designers do a great job of mixing classic design pieces with unique touches. for instance, one dining room set has Louis Ghost chairs with seat back and cushions added. So smart! And their use of the Marfa Pradasign in the Bass residence is to die for.
Max and Beth
HGP: What's your biggest fear?
BD: Lack of control. But since I had my son 7 months ago, that has all gone out the window. I have no control over my schedule, and I'm just feeling my way through parenting and balancing work. I have no choice but to let go and go with the flow. It's kind of freeing.
See more photos of Beth at home on her blog, Hello, Splendor.
Blogs she's reading now: Mrs. Lilien, Oh Joy!, Sunday Suppers, and Ok Great!
Skull wallpaper by Barbara Hulanicki.
HGP: What are you obsessed with?
BD: Anything unexpected....I've been on a mustache and a skull kick for a while now, but I'm ready for the next quirky trend or motif. I love anything with a sense of humor!
Kim Cattrall
HGP: The actress most likely to play you in the movie about your life?
BD: I've been told Kim Cattrall. I'll let you be the judge...
